The court just wants to make sure that you have understand what you are agreeing to because on the face of it the settlement doesn't look fair - it is probably nothing to do with your ex or her lawyers. If you want the matter finalised you may have to sign a stat dec stating that you understand the agreement between you (I am guessing that it is a Consent Order) and you have sought independent advice etc etc. that should put an end to the matter.

I got divorced in Australia ... we just did the basic divorce and divided the property ourselves with no lawyers involved, no special agreements signed etc... neither of us attended the courts either..
have you actually read all the docs and know exactly what is required to get divorced.? maybe things have changed This all sounds a bit strange to me.. |

I will add that a friend of mine here in Australia has just been stung for the very same thing - settled on divorce - no consent order - within 2 years she had inherited - he came back for more. |
