The boy was an A student - I will try to remember his name and post the report. His mother was a friend of my mothers.

It was horrendous, he just came at him as we all walked to school. There was no blood at all at first but then there was loads.

It wasn't good at all.

I never really wondered at what happened to the little boy that did it - I can just remember all the parents and his mother walking around our village looking pale. And I can remember everyone saying it wasnt his fault

That brings home the other side of the bullying, how much do the kids take before they snap Poor kid I hope the court were easy on him given the circumstances

BTW I am not saying this was the case in brisbane, I dont know. Private or state school a lot of kids have problems and dysfunctional families though.

Back in grade 6 the bullying was horrendous, pile driving, ( slamming kids heads into ground ) whack sacking - ramming kids in the testicles, one ended up needing surgery.

My youngest sons tiny funny little singaporean friend got his glassses smashed into his face for being having 'slanty eyes', the kids were twice his size. That year a kid also got stabbed on the high school bus, but it was only the leg.

Terrible to hear about this incident. I don't think that we will find out exactly what happened, as the police and school will be very keen to protect both families.

In my opinion this thread was started in a very insensitive manner - but at least it has not continued down that path.

I don't see what's wrong with a bit of baiting. People do it everyday in the real word, not just on the internet.

They may well do... but the don't often do it about the murder of a 12yr old.

I would've thought setting out to bait people would be considered inflammatory & against site rule 4 ( yes I know where the report button is ). But I guess you know best, being a mod n'all.

I actually think I understand the point of the OP but the way it was delivered, no.

This has been a devastating day for all the students, staff, and parents.

This is not something that we expected to happen at OUR school, but then I guess we are amongst millions of parents who send their children off to school each morning expecting that they will come home at night.

That won't happen to two of our boys tonight. One family has lost a son. This was brought home to me with a hammer to my heart tonight when my OH came home and kissed me, then kissed and hugged our son. I had to leave the room. I was upset at the thought that there was a Dad who came home tonight who didn't have a son to kiss or hug. And another Dad who was visiting his son at a police station, or at his hospital bed.

Which parent would I want to be?

Neither.

Two children have been affected by this. We may never know the real facts of this 'story'. Two families have been devastated by this, and countless others are left wondering just what went on.

The news crews were out in force around St Pat's today, there was even a van selling hot food.

Apparently this is entertainment for some, profit for others.

But to those of us who have sons at the school, it has been a devastating day, to the staff it has been the most awful day, to our children it has been a day that will be etched in their memories forever, and to the parents of the boys involved? What kind of day do you think they've had.

Please, you are entitled to your opinions, but be mindful that I may not be the only BE member who has been affected by this awful tragedy and who may be reading the forum.

One little boy fatally wounded another little boy. What kind of world are we living in?

I apologise if I have caused anyone any offence.

Machiavelli, I feel for your school community. These two families have been ripped apart and it will take time for your community to recover. It must be so hard for you to send your son back to school without having that irrational fear gripping you.

Sitting here in Dubai for the last year and a half, reading news stories about the incidents at Lauries, Terrace and now St Pats has been made me feel truly sad. My kids home town, the schools they may have been attending (and still may on our return) it makes me think twice about coming home. I know it can happen anywhere but Dubai is (touch wood) a really safe place to bring up kids.

I hope your son is okay and I wish your community had never had to go through this. Take care.

I've just read this from an online news source:

Police would not comment on any possible motive for the stabbing, but students said the alleged offender had been the victim of bullying and had brought a knife to school to "scare" his tormentors.

Last night, police charged the boy with murder and he will appear in court today.

You have to feel for both boys after feeling this. How tormented and fed up must he allegedly have been to wield a knife and use it (if the allegation turns out to be true)?

The offender is apparently a straight A student so I think that there is a good chance that the bullying claim can be reconciled with his academic record. Statistically speaking, I cannot imagine that someone who is capable of achieving such distinctions in academia would readily and nonchalantly pick up a knife for the fun of it?

We shall see?

Indeed - especially if he was at his wits end

Hmmm... just because you're clever doesn't mean you can't be evil. And I'm not saying that is the case here.

Also if the bullying was really bad you'd think his grade's would've suffered?

It might just be a good defense story, who knows.

.
I would agree , but in my school all the bully's who used actual force as opposed to verbal , where all dumb asses to a man.

The guy who bullied me in school developed mental issues around 2-3 years later.

The murdered boy was a "straight a" student as well. He was also in the year below the offender. Two "straight A" students with the younger boy bullying the older one.
