$1000 payments

Re: $1000 payments
Do you get any FTB - part A now Dorothy? You have to be eligible for it on the 14th (or there abouts, it's in the link I gave earlier) of October this year to qualify for the extra $1000 per child.
If like me you aren't sure you are entitled to anything because you may earn too much, or you want to wait until the end of the year to get it then you will be paid after you do your tax return in 2009.

Re: $1000 payments
I dont know if anyone here has spent anytime talking to centrelink on the phone with situations like this, but honestly at that time, everyperson we talked to gave us a different outcome... they are/were bloody hopeless. They've got to be the only organisation that makes Telstra look good.
Someone told me about a accountant that specialised in Centrelink payments. Well what a revelation, about 4 years ago it turned out we should have had some income from Centrelink after all. End result debt wiped... over 5000 dollars back from Centrelink on our first tax return with the new account, and a strategy for reducing our assessable income. We get money every year at the end of the year now from Centrelink.
Moral of this is... if your close to the income threshold then you must get an accountant that knows about centrelink family tax.
Most dont.

If you do have problems, or doubts about FBT, I suggest getting an appointment at Centrelink, (not the call centres) and discuss things with them in person.
And remember this when dealing with Centerlink...
- Most centrelink employees are normal people.
- For most of their day they are dealing with people who are trying to rort the system, like drug addicts that need a "special payment" as they have run out, and who stay there arguing till they get it.
- They deal with newly released prisoners, who, by law, have to have special preference, and demand everything that they have learnt about in Jail.
- They deal with people who are 'supposed' to be looking for work, but aren't. etc
It is not a Job I would like, way too stressful.
However, go in there and be friendly with them, smile a bit, say things like "god, how do you do this job".
90% of the time they will like you, and guess what... They will probably help you, and spend as much time helping you as they can, to delay the time before getting another obnoxious customer.
It makes sense, yes ?
