Guys,

I've just completed on a holiday home near St Albans beach in Barbados, and need to go about recruiting a caretaker, as my time there will be limited. Any ideas on good contacts and most importantly things like how much money I'll have to offer, salary, do they have holiday entitlements etc. Estate agents been useless...

well hate to say it - coz it can be a nightmare - but the best way is word of mouth. We went the route of advertising and it resulted in totally unsuitable people. Asked aquaintances and got the perfect housekeeper.

ask Rum_Bo on this site - he's on Barbados and can probably give you a lead.

dont know about wages in Barbados but yes you have to do the holiday entitlement thing - its best to keep them happy! I dont pay any kind of sick pay or anything though
