Default Some advice needed!!!

Hi!! Am new on here so hello to all!!!

I need some advice on work permits etc!!!

I moved here in July this year with my partner who is Bajan, we are getting married in the next few weeks and I will be applying for Citizenship when we do.

I have recently found a company very interested in employing me, I know I will have to get a permit, but will it be better if I have a Citizenship application pending? Also the company would rather not wait months to get the paperwork sorted, is there any way that anybody has found to "speed" things up?

Any advice would really help!!!

Thanks!!

my first advise, find a lawyer, good and experienced, at immigration law in Barbados. Read through the many many posts listed on this site with regards to this exact information.

I have always been lead to believe that if you have citizenship documentation listed with the immigration department, you could also NOT get a work permit. In the proposal for the changing of the immigration law by the new government, there is a provision which is made for those applying for citizenship that would allow them to work, however, there is also a proposal to require a mandatory 2 year waiting period from the time of Marriage to the application of citizenship (same as in the USA).

I started a thread about immigration policy last week I think.. find it, go to the government webistes and have a read through the new policy.

at present, from my understanding.. even greasing the wheel doesn't help unless you seriously know someone at the top.. and even then "it's at the whim and whimsy of whomever you happen to get..".. or was that referring to the last government?? who knows anymore..

Thanks very much for that!

I spoke to them again this morning and they said I can submit a work permit request while after my Citizenship forms. I dont know if it because they know this new act is coming in. I will be staying here for many more than two years!
I have no problem with them taking as long as they like with the citizenship as long as I can work lol!!

Sadly a lawyer is out, we just dont have the cash.
