Can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of wood ants? I heard that planting tobacco plants around your house keeps insect from the house.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This is what I will say about this-- if this is your house and you have any sign of any creatures (termites, wood ants) that devour wood you need to get the house treated. If termite treatment wasn't done when the structure was built there is absolutely no defense. It was done retroactively on the apartment where I live, the blockwork walls were bored; the treatment was injected into the cells of the blocks. Other wise those critters will be headed straight for the timber roof structure. I believe A&B Pest Control does this, if not they can recommend some one that does.

P.S. I am really not into pesticides, and I like the idea of natural deterrents but this is nothing to mess with.
