Default recycling?

Sorry to lower the tone but I'm new to the island and would appreciate any advice on the above. I thought I'd cracked it a couple of weeks ago by ringing B's in cane garden and arranging for them to collect my household cardboard, plastic, bottles etc but despite numerous phone calls the stuff is still sitting outside my house providing a home for the local toad population. Does anyone know of a more reliable recycling company? I'm in st Thomas.
Thanks, in advance.

Unfortunately B's is, I think, the only recycling company on the island.

Welcome, Julie! I don't know of any other recycling company that will collect from your home/street, but there are a few other options: There are bottle depots behind some supermarkets, e.g. Pricesmart at Warrens, and Supercentre in Holetown, and also a general recycling centre at Eagle Hall which takes paper+card, both plastic and glass bottles and also Tetrapaks. I have recently heard of (but not checked out) a recycling facility in Vaucluse, St. Thomas which may or may not be useful for you (http://www.sbrcinc.com).

Hi Julie!

Along with the suggestions mentioned above, you can always drop glass bottles, plastic bottles and tin cans off at the Future Centre Trust up in Edghill, St. Thomas. They are a tiny (yet mighty) organisation that are hugely passionate about sustainable living and conservation in Barbados. They also set up local recycling schemes in communities around the island.

Check out their website. They are always happy to receive feedback and can give some good advice.
