Import duties on pets...
Anyone with any experience regarding this-- our cat will arrive here in March, although he is loveable he was a stray and is neutered--he's no stud!

We are thinking of living in Barbados 6 months of the year. Does anyone know how much it would cost to bring our pets for 6 months (we have the pet passports)?

Re: Import duties on pets...
We brought in a cat and a dog both from the RSPCA and both mixed breeds. They have a standard value they put on this kind of pet which I think was something like $100 (but might have been $50) but annoyingly you will need a customs broker to do the documentation for you (best to get this sorted out before you arrive).
I have to say the big expense is getting the animals out here as BA will no longer let you take them as excess baggage so you have to bring them as cargo which is very expensive.

Thanks--our cat is in quarantine right now and we are in BB so he will travel alone here on BA as cargo, the quarantine facility did quote a high price. I am glad to know the import duty is manageable.
