So in the UK you can get child support and have it sent to Barbados - is that fair?

When I was around ten or eleven years old it dawned on me that many of the women I saw in society were single mothers. They had children for men who would not help them raise them and who often did not help them support them. So you know what? I said to myself, "When I grow up I am not going to be like those women," and you know what, I am not like one of those women. I just can't put my arms around the idea of having "casual" or "accidental" children.

The last thing Barbados needs are more single mothers and fatherless children. Just think, if all the women in the world were as smart as I am and didn't even permit losers to have discussions with them, furthermore touch them, there wouldn't be many losers. Losers would sit at home contemplating the fact that they couldn't get any women and would straighten up and fly right. It is because many men realize they can be irresponsible and still get women to pay attention to them that they continue to "play" women and disrespect them.

Even if she is awarded child support, Serendipity's acquaintance will be on her own with her child, unless she can get another man to play daddy to him/her.

I don't think all this judgement is needed here....

The original poster was just asking where the law stood in terms of her friend getting child support, not for all of our opinions about the rights/wrongs of the situation.

Let's try and stick to answering the question, because I'm sure there are plenty of single parents/children of single parents on this board who will find the comments inflammatory, and then the original question will never get resolved.

I totally agree...how quick to judge!!!

How lucky Reslax has been to have only encountered 'losers' that are clearly labelled as such...being "smart" has VERY little to do with relationships in my opinion...and I can pretty much guarentee that the mother in question is far more aware than any of us of the difficulties that lie ahead for her and her child.

In reference to UK reciprocal child maintenance agreements, I found the following link:

I agree with Ikon.

I too thought i was smart when I was younger and I had both my children when I wanted them.

But I have become wiser since then and have learned and seen there are many reasons how and why a girl/woman (or a man) can end up with a child on her(his) own.

At a moment like that it makes no sense to to dwell on the past but go forward and make the best of it, judgements prevent people from getting smart, when you are labelled a fool it is hard to hold your head up.

And when the parent is called a fool, it labels the child as well, and what good does that do............. keeps the same circle going round.

Neal your comments towards Reslax are uncalled for therefore i am deleting your post (sorry Karib had to delete yours as well as it quotes the offensive statements) - everyone is entitled to an opinon and to get personal is underhand and inappropriate - this is not a chat room or a personal blogging site its a positive service offering those with difficult questions to gain incite into information that might help them in their time here in barbados.

There are plenty of other sites for anyone wanting to just inflame debate and cause negativity to another person - I guess my encouragement would be if you dont really have a contribution to a thread there is no law saying you have to add a negative one for the sake of it
