Touché. I too like Rhone because it produces some of my favourite wines. On the residency thing, there's a thread I started in the France forum about all that. In a nutshell, we have all the paperwork necessary to prove that my wife has been a French citizen since birth but the circumstances are quite unusual and we haven't yet convinced the Préfecture.

Best I go look for your other thread to get some background.

I/we had considered ‘somewhere’ in l'Hexagone as a possible retirement spot; the potential for uber-bureaucracy did my head in, so I opted to travel north.

Same s***, just slightly different bureaucracy...

As to this, I couldn't agree more.
