Charmhaven ( nsw ) v The Redlands ( qld )
A friend of mine has a very difficult decision to make over the next couple of weeks as regards to where she, her hubby & daughter settle.
There are a lot of complications involved which i can't really go into on here, but i thought if i could get some opinions from your good selves, it may make the decision a little easier.
I myself live in the Redlands and really love it here, because it's relatively close to the City, Beaches, shopping malls etc etc but far enough away to be out of the rat race.
Also you get a lot more for your money up here, when it comes to buying property.
I think the education, climate, people, way of life is far better up here, but would be interested to hear other peoples opinions.
Many thanks in advance.

Having moved from NSW to the Redlands, and now being much happier than I was in NSW. Well.....
But I can't compare the "specific" area of Charmhaven. Although at 100km North of Sydney, I would be concerned about the distance.

Only visited both places briefly so no expert. Whilst Charmhaven might look nice on the Lake it's a VERY long way from Sydney and I reckon it's borderline whether it's commutable. You'd be up for almost two hours each way. Charmhaven is closer to Newcastle (OK if you plan to work there) than Sydney.
That whole part of the Central Coast was traditionally Sydney weekender territory - mainly small weatherboard/fibro houses. It's only recently that more 'normal' houses have been built, since the lower, more-accessible Central Coast has become basically built out. Land up that way is still cheapish. There are quite a few coal mines about (watch for subsidence) and a couple of power stations in the area which makes it less desirable.
Don't really know who lives there - you'd probably get quite a lot of retired people due to proximity to Lake and cheaper house prices.
To be honest, if you were looking to get work in a large city - I'd be going for Redlands over Charmhaven.

It's quiet where he is - nice scenery though - but I certainly wouldn't choose to live there (or send anyone else there, for more reasons than one

Never been to Charmhaven but we do live in the Redlands. I think the Redlands is ideal as it is well placed for getting into Brisbane, going to the Gold or Sunshine Coasts and is also only half an hour away from the airport. It is a nice quiet area and we love it here.
