Pumpkin, what do you think my chances are of getting a decent job (i.e. not in a shop or a bar - I'm not good with the public!) while on a WHV and living on a permanent basis with my Aussie boyfriend who has a good steady job? If I explain to them that I'm not going to bugger off travelling that should stand me in good stead right? I'm moving to the Central Coast in June, having a month off to settle in before I start looking for work.

It is pretty much luck of the draw. Hubbie really struggled on a student visa to find ANY job, even applying for crappy ones. However he can only work 20hours a week, whereas you will be able to work full time. If you can find some maternity leave cover you would be laughing. Depending on your type of work, agencies would be a good start.
If you are in the right place at the right time you will be fine. :)

Thanks Pumpkin, there's so much doom and gloom on this forum as far as jobs go, it's nice to see a balanced view! :D For every person who's out of work for three months, there's probably someone who walked straight off the plane and into a job. But there are a lot more whinging poms than smug ones. :p
