Are you using Myki?
Coalition claims Myki is a failure. The poll is a study to find out how popular Myki is.

Re: Are you using Myki?
Been using it for a while on train & tram.
Getting used to it but I still think the implementation is botched. Lots of problems with getting the reader to register the swipe - and see plenty of others struggling at the gates.
They've got something badly wrong with the technology - no such problems using the systems in London or Hong Kong.

Re: Are you using Myki?
Judging by the comments so far I'd guess that Myki is a Melbourne based swipe card for public transport...
Brisbanes own version "GoCard" is a complete f&^k up and after being incorrectly billed on too many occassions I abandonned public transport altogether (and am consequently MUCH happier and more relaxed).
If Melbournes system is half as screwed up as Brisbanes then it speak volumes for the Australian ability to screw up a previously excellently implemented system by adding too many complex rules.

Yes Myki is worse than Go. Never had much of a problem with Go...it often used to give me free trips on the cross river ferry at Bulimba.

Re: Are you using Myki?
I have been using it for over 2 months. Average time for touching on/off is about 2 seconds. Did have issues topping it up, topping online takes up to 24 hours to activate. Touching off is a pain as people behind you (who never heard of Myki) are swearing to themselves "Why the ***** is this a*shole holding up the exit area!"

I think GoCard usage in Brisbane is around 63% now. Not sure if that is people or trips.

Re: Are you using Myki?
I'm on my fifth card, they work for a while then just stop for no reason, the Helpline this week suggested that maybe my last card stopped working cos I "carry it with me every day instead of keeping it safe in a drawer".....errrrrrr how am I supposed to use it if its safe in a drawer? Each time I have to give in and get a new card it takes two weeks to transfer the balance from the old one, sick of paying the full fare for those two weeks I now have a second card for emergencies
If the Melbourne system is the same, best of luck

Re: Are you using Myki?
I plan to get one, more like 4 actually, when I stop hearing about it in the Media.
Until then I'll stick with the metcard.
My mate has one, and he seems to be happy with his.

GoCard has had regular free handouts with $10 credit over the last few years...maybe you should wait for that

Re: Are you using Myki?
Last time I looked at it, it seemed a bit of a mess.
For a start, there seems to be two different services, with different price structures. And generally the prices don't seem to be sufficiently discounted to be worth paying $10 for the card in the first place (FFS giving the card away for free is the minimum I'd expect).
About the only time it seems sensible was if you used it a lot at weekends.
And I couldn't work out if you could still use one ticket on trains AND trams - no extra costs.
A solution in search of a problem
