Instead I am disturbed to find myself addicted to this forum. I sneaked for a surf earlier but I felt this urge bringing me back to the PC. Hello my name is Bondi. I am addicted to this forum. Dotty addicted for 18 months now. :D |

I think its great that Oz TV is rubbish and the pubs are useless and theyre living back in the 1980s. keeps you away from those things dosnt it. What good does sitting in front of the idiot box do for you or your kids. And pubs aint healthy places - waste of hard earned money and a waste of time. And what has modern technology really done for us anyway - got us hooked on forums, faster cars sitting in traffic jams, faster planes and long airport delays, computer games captured the minds of our kids, Mcdonalds, London smog, huge mortgages, high stress jobs......... Hey give me Oz back in the seventies any day.

Originally posted by Wilf Were you not saying earlier Pete - that's what I love about Ozzies, they speak their mind. I was tired last night so maybe I should have just bitten my tongue (or my typing finger) and not replied until this morning, i may have given a more considered reply. However, now i find i don't need to, as Welshpom has taken the words from my very fingertips. The only two points of Daz's that i will comment upon (becuase its the only one i feel to be unjust) are : Are u ready for shite pubs full of people playin pokies, no chance of conversation do u want your name to be left in uk?? ie beinng referred 2 as pommie bastard, pom, stinkin pom go have a shower??? Now....i would'nt be surprised if it happens from a more insulting kind of angle at some point of my life in aus, but hey, who cares? Sticks and stones etc. I've been called names (not pom though i hasten to add) plenty of times over here in the UK, so why the heck should pom bother me? If Daz is relating to real experiences in this "informative" views (ones above) on oz, i would say he is in the minority. Wilf. I would believe you. Can you tell me how being called a pom has affected you? Actually.....its quite an interesting subject....id been keen to get everyones view. I'll start a new thread, go look there. Cheers Pete. |
All the 1970s 1950s stuff which Aus apparently is is all part of the charm in my view...and I found stacks of normal pubs!! There're not all pokies.
Apart from internet brodband etc I can't always see how 2000s are massively better than the 1970s...more crime, more pressure...the attraction of Aussie and to a greater extent NZ, is that they are precisely kind of naive/innocent (if I can say that) in a way that alot of would be parents are attracted to. There's no way I am bringing my kids up in Europe. Dazuk should be allowed to be negative Wilf, he just said it in a "trolling" fashion guaranteed to get a rise.. |

Not really a pub person and I think pokies are band in WA are u ready for oz?? Oh yes, but more to the point is Oz ready for me? are u ready for love?? Oh boo hoo, woe is me, I can't do exactly the same things I liked to do in England namely sit on my arse all day watching telly and shooting the shit at the pub with other piss pot social misfits. And they call me names to boot! WAAAAAAAA

Originally posted by Wilf I don't think daz should be insulted for this. He sounds to me to be so sure about what he thinks that he says it strongly. That is human feeling and it is coming from the heart. If more people did that on here (it is only a computer thing after all, and who is he hurting with his stuff? If someone is hurt by this, do not emigrate anywhere, you are not up to it) it would be a lot more useful. Daz has not even aimed it at anyone, but just speaking his mind about Oz. Were you not saying earlier Pete - that's what I love about Ozzies, they speak their mind. Wilf |
Are you ready for the UK?
endure the rat race london underground every morning/evening come home with just enough time to cook & eat your tea watch beastbenders ingnore the wife for an hour or two cos your too fecked to talk and then go to bed cos you've got to get up early to do it all again. Repeat for 1 week then attempt to negotiate your way into town on a Saturday with the rest of the UK to shop for food, the latest fashions/mobile phone ooh must look good at the trendy bar you always go to at the weekend, meet your mates who all moan about how shite their jobs/lives are,get pissed to forget the stressfull week you've had. MMM weekend over not sure where that went oh well back to work must catch that train which will be on time the day I'm late for it. Do this for rest of life. NO THANKS Have the guts to move to the other side of the world to try things a different way, perhaps learn about the important things in life instead of running with the herd. I THINK I'LL RISK IT After all if it doesnt work out I can always come back to UK and turn into a proper whinging pom at least I'll have something to whinge about. |

Think some people are sadly disilusioned with what they are coming to, or worse disilusioned about what they are leaving behind.
There is none so blind as those that dont want to see. for me its not much different here (perth) to Manchester or Liverpool. Except that even Scousers can drive. !! Same old kack just a different place. Go to work (if you are lucky enough to have a job) go home, go to work, go home, weekend same old kack, cut the grass, sort the house, entertain the kids. Pay the mortgage, pay the bills, argue with the wife. Have a great view of city from balcony, first two weeks, it was wow look at that, now I dont even notice it. ! Everyone has or will have there own experience so because Daz has a particular view it does not make him wrong, and what difference does it to make to how or where he was educated. An opinion is an opinion. Intelligence is not a boundary for experience good or bad. Some might say, lack of intelligence would be an advantage here. !!! |
