Hi,

What's the story with PR once received, do I have to stay in the country for a certain length of time before I can leave or can I leave the country once I've got it ? How long does the PR visa last ? The reason I would want to leave when I get it (if I get it), is because I want to work in the UK for 6 months and them come back.

Thanks for your help.

Your initial entry for Australia can be as short as you like (although you need to
leave the airport, as far as I'm aware). Afterwards you can go back and work for a
while in the UK if you wish.

The visa lasts 5 years, you're really best advised to make the move proper within 3
years so as to wasily qualify for a resident return visa at the end of the 5 year
period (for which you'll need to have lived in Australia for 2 years).

2 years is also the wait period for Aus citizenship, and time spent outside Australia
doesn't normally count.
