A relative of a friend of ours came out with his wife and three kids in August 2003 to Perth, after 2 days decided they didnt like it stayed 5 weeks and sent containers back, after 3 months back in UK they decided that they had made a mistake and decided to give it another go, so in August 2004 again with containers (at a cost of 6000 GBP each way) they arrive back, hubby gets offered a decent job after being here 6 days, but after seven days they decide they have done the wrong thing and send the containers back and look for flights ASAP.
I have left out some details as to avoid any embarassment.
This is Bonkers!!
Fair enough a single couple doing this, but to drag three kids back & forth is very unfair(being polite!)

Seems like a crazy situation, but I wouldn't want to judge them. To each their own, I guess. I would like to think that they are keeping themselves happy, anyway!

It would be interesting to find out what they really did not like in order for them to make such a hasty decision.
Going back is one thing, but then to change your minds and do it all over again is saying something.A very costly exercise.
Not as though is just to Europe and back.
Interesting

They have come out in August both times and complained about the weather
we estimated that they have blown $100,000 over the two trips.

Whole situation probably demonstrates the range of emotions people must go through in the first few weeks. :scared: I'd bet most feel like running at least 100 times in the first few months, logically tho most cant afford to or are just too exhausted to turn around and go back. Always find it odd when people think getting the visa is the hard part would have thought the arriving stage would be far more stressful myself especially for those who didnt even invest in a vist first, now that must be

Not only the food but think of the frequent flyer points gained for bulk purchase of thckets. Also pity the poor shippers who have problems sending containers one way, ***** ******** would have a breakdown.

PS: do they meet themselves on the way back?

Donna.

In my opinion i would have to say that the parents of the children involved should have a damn good look at themselves, if i get casigated for this fair enough, but what you have done to your kids is a damn shame, the first trip should have gave you some experience? to do it again & then give up after 5 days? i'm sorry but in no way shape or form do i find that acceptable.

Mr Madsad

This family are the forum not off the forum but they do reckon they have done stacks of research both times, they didnt use this forum maybe thats where they went wrong, they have friends in Perth who reckon hubby is a coward.
It seems that he is the one who is backing out and dragging his family around the world.
when they went back last time they bought a new car and sold it when they came back this time and lost 6000 GBP on depreciation. they have bought one way flights for every trip and paid 6000 GBP for 2 containers 4 times (24,000 GBP) it all adds up when you take into account money spent on renting houses in Oz and travel insurance hire cars etc. one of the kids is in the final year at school with all the disruption of moving a family across the world the stress shouldnt be taken lightly and to do it twice...................................?????????? ????????????????????????

How can any father do that to his kids. Especially as he was offered a good job. What the hell does he want. I am sure they are very nice people, but the wife should also have a good look at herself. I just don't get the time limit - you are only just getting over the jet lag how the hell can you make a rational decision after such a short time. Sorry but aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - what a waste of a visa to say nothing of the money and has he got a job in Britain or a house?
