You should be able to change his location on the profile, so he won't have to start all over again.

Xbox 360's aren't region locked, so games from all over the world will work - BUT you won't want to be buying the games in Oz once you see the price of them.

I get mine sent to me from the UK. Example, the latest game I bought was $109 here, compared to £32.99 in the UK.

Zoneadrenalan Melbourne, would be the cheapest Aus suppliers I know of... especially if you pay cash in store.

No, plus the fact that some Aus games are heavily censored. Perhaps not something that the OP will worry about so much for his son, but it annoys the hell out of me...

Hi

The live account you will be able to keep as long as you change your location from UK to Australia as stated earlier.

On the regions however the comments are not entirely correct, both games and DVDs are region locked.

Gaming:North American game discs (NTSC) only work with North American Xbox 360 consoles. Similarly, Japanese game discs (NTSC-J) only work with Japanese Xbox consoles, and European (Australia and South Africa incl.) game discs (PAL) only work with European Xbox consoles.

so as long as you only buy games local to the UK or Australia you will be fine, don’t import games from Japan and the likes.

DVDs:
Each Xbox 360 console is manufactured for a specific region, following international standards.

The Xbox 360 console can play discs that are sold in the same region as the console. For example, you can play DVDs from the same region as your console or DVDs that don't have regional coding.

Region 2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East region, including Egypt

region 4:Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.

so to be able to play Australian DVDs you would need to have the xbox taken into a repair store and have the DVD ROM flashed for region 4.

Sounds like Germany. Funny thing: you can buy the uncensored variation of these games in Austria without problems.

I don't think you are allowed to change the region of your live account

http://deeperdesign.wordpress.com/20...for-xbox-live/

That link is about 2 years old but I hit the same problem last April. Had a UK account but I wasn't allowed to change the country to Aus. After going round and round and round in circles with Microsoft 'support' they gave me the same options - create a new Aus account or continue to use the old account and use a UK credit card.

Is the issue more to do with the credit card's 'nationality' than anything else?
eg. UK based XBL account expects a UK CC - surely if you don't have a card linked to XBL and pay for MS points and XBL Gold using prepaid cards then it shouldn't be a problem?

I've never had a card linked to my XBL account, mostly due to M$ security concerns and have always used prepaid cards - certainly cheaper to buy 13+1 months from Ebay than most options elsewhere.
I'm hoping this will be the case when I move to Melbourne as I don't wnat to restart with 0 GS.
