My OH used to do 6/7 day weeks in the UK, dependant if the overtime was asked of him; when he suggested working a Saturday at his new place when we arrived, they told him he could go in, but he'd be on his own - as no one else would be working!

I work 6 hours on a Saturday, but I'm only part time - so that probably doesn't count??!!

Only five days here, hopefully going down to four days in the near future (e.g. 4 days of 10hrs instead of 5 days of 8hrs)

Depends what sector you are in though. Retail almost always work Saturdays although I think they tend to work one out of two or something.

I have some occasional out-of-hours work for an IT release (as tends to be the case in any country) ... generally I'd say I work less hours in Oz compared to the UK. The commuting time is about the same but the drive is nicer

I do 3x11.5 hour shifts and alternate saturdays to make me up to full time hours. I work more in AU than I did in the UK. Never needed to be fulltime until now!

If you work in retail then you are likely to be asked to work Saturdays. Saying that, I have been offered alternate Saturdays or Saturday mornings in the jobs I have applied for. There are plenty of students and young people happy to work Saturdays to make up the numbers. I decided to take an admin job so I had NO Saturdays (same as hubby who is mechanic) and both our places close down for 2 weeks over Christmas. Result!!!
