Question work experience

Hello all, this is the first time I log into this site, and very curious. I have some questions about The Aussie skilled migration process, and hope someone can help me.

1. I am working part time this year because I am back again to school for my master degree and full time job is too much. So can I count the part time job toward the working experience requirement? (It is a 20-hour a week job)

2. I want to nominate accountant as my nominated skill. I have been working as accountant before. But, last year I decided to go back to school and applied for internship to work as an accountant student assistant for some of the school's project. Even though I am technically working as an accountant, but my title is still a "student assisstant". So, will Adelaide accept working experience in school?

3. Because I worked at school and only as an assisstant...basically my current work has been "downgraded" from my previous. I was a manager before, but now I am only doing 25% of what I was doing before because I am a student again. Will this fact affect my PR process?

Thank you

Default Re: work experience

You can nominate 'accountant' as your occupation if you meet the
academic requirements for one of the three assessing bodies, ICAA,
CPAA or NIA.

No work experience is needed to get an assessment as an accountant,
but you do need a qualification equivalent to an Australian bachelors
degree that matches quite closely the required syllabus of the
assessing authorities.

Separately, you do need skilled work experience for your application
to be approved by DIMIA (unless you are a recent Australian graduate).
That's got to be:

- in a skilled occupation (evidenced by the qualification you hold
while doing the work, and also the duties). The occupation must be on
the Skilled Occupations List.

- more than 20 hours a week

- paid

It sounds from your post that you may have problems qualifying for
skilled migration at the moment. You could talk to a migration agent
to look at your case in more detail.

And if you've not bought or downloaded the Skilled Migration Booklet
for A$10, that should be your first step.
