Now something like this I expected under the 'Perth is going downhill' title

Just goes to show though that the same bad things happen all over the world.
My rose tints have never been on, I will just take things as they come.

Because I grew up in Oz (5 till 14, 1987-1996), and as a child you don't remember stuff like that, and everthing was better back then
Also, we didn't live in Perth (only in the beginning), so that makes it different.
Through this forum my rosetinted specs are slowly coming off, but I still realise they are on sometimes.
I now also realise that going from a small quiet city/town in country Hollland to big city Perth will be very different. Busier, more crime etc etc.
But I won't know what it's really like till I'm there!
And also, how will it be to live in a city?
One thing I don't have rosetinted specs about is the use of drugs(well, cannabis). 3/4 of my class in High school(year 8 and 9) smoked it apparently and most of the other 1/4 at least tried it! And that was in a small country town...

Hi there i spoke to some security guards as all us girls came out of TAFE tonite, they said she was all of 19 had left home about 8pm or something only got literally round the corner. Sad isnt it where ever you are in the world, these sickos are around. The one guard said at the time it happened they were dealing with gangs of youths up at Quinns rock being little shits as usual, when they could have been helping elsewhere, but i dont think they would have prvented that from happening, very sad. As we come out of Tafe at 8.30 - 9.00pmish there are thankfully security guards to escort us to our cars, loads of bloomin trees and bushes around, so we get in our cars and lock the doors. But again this is the same all over not just here i know, we just dont like it on our doorsteps do we

It is almost literally on my doorstep, just round the corner & on the street we used to live so it's freaking the kids out at the moment. As I've always said "same shit different country" I shouldn't be surprised, but it's always a shock when it affects you. From the top of our street all the roads are still closed round the school tonight. As it happened on the school grounds I wonder how it will effect the kids on Monday, they've had today off & are off tomorrow, it's a horrible feeling when things happen so close to home. I just hope they catch the person responsible soon & I feel for the poor girl's family & friends.

There's been quite a few "domestic" killings recently, including a bloke slashing his wife's throat in front of the kids at Mulalloo, but this one is has shocked the whole city, not just the Northern suburbs where so many of us live. It even made the national news.
I hope they get the bas***d soon before he strikes again.

Regarding what Jo was saying about the youths up in Quinns, well there were also about 3 or 4 different incidents of malicious fires being started up at Merriwa (our friends reported them) - so much trouble in 1 area in 1 night. Very

Just been on the radio, 19 yr old Quinns Rocks man charged with grevious bodily harm, which may be upgraded to murder after post mortem...,

What seems to be a worry is they are good areas that these crimes happen like mindarie, mulaloo, kallaroo, hillarys etc not your average priced house areas, even though when i put a thread up before it was commented that hillarys must be a rough area because we have had murders, graffiti damage etc, you would be well pushed to find a $300000 home in these areas. Also though half of these murders are domestic between husband and wife, i wonder if the 19 yr old lad actually new the poor girl in mindarie, i suspect he did. Still a worry with your kids though isnt it.

I agree with you but I think that these type of things happen everywhere, just tends to chill the bone when they are down the road. I drive past the house in Kallaroo when that guy murdered his wife everyday, and noticed that it is now up for auction.....gives me a chill driving past it so I don't know who would want to live there.....it's an ugly place anyway.
When I 1st came out in 95 the whole Claremont serial killer thing was in full swing, and remindeed me so much of the yorkshire ripper back in the mmmmmm 80's was it?????

Do you suppose all the bidders know what happened there?
They never got the Claremont serial killer
