Wol's house build

Wol's house build
Now up to the point of installing the suspended floor slab: the site is a mess but we should start to see real progress from now on.
(Note the grey skies - it's been freezing cold and drizzling these last few days!)

So will the area under the suspended slab be a crawl space? Would love to have something like that when our builders get started so we can store all the crap we brought over that we don't use.
The house looks like it's going to be huge!

Yes, there'll be a crawlspace under most of the edifice - the only bits which are onground are the garage and workshop.
And no, it isn't *that* big! It's turned out bigger than we really need because Mrs Wol has a thing about symmetry: each side has to be the same size as the other so the width of the garage has dictated the width of the living room! And we do like largish rooms and wide corridors. But compared with many other builds it ain't vast!
Yes, the swastika appears to have gone! I hate the thought of that appearing on Google Earth...

Wow it looks very green around your build which I'm quite surprised about seeing as folk keep telling me Oz is just on massive desert.

This is the first time I've built a house entirely to my own design, not just with my own modifications, and it will be the last one at my age! But it's interesting to see the build progress and how it all comes together.
The builder is a local small builder: his family came from Yugoslavia 2 generations ago and are all in the trade. He is incredibly proactive and takes everything on board so we have every confidence in the build although one has to say that the Australian standards are a bit different -shall we say - to UK ones!
Still, fingers crossed...
