In UK you can dial something like 1571 to withhold your phone number from the person you are calling.

Is there a similar thing you can do in Oz?

Call by Call Block - If you want to block your telephone number on a call by call basis simply enter 1831 from a fixed phone (#31# from a Mobile) and then dial the number you are calling.

This is with Telstra as your provider. I'm not sure what the mobile number would be for other providers. You'd have to go to thier website and get that information.

use a friends phone or someone else at the pub when they go to the toilet.
You can also achieve this by dialling 000

You can also get a silent number, costs about $2 a month but you're number doesnt register anywhere.

work for me is called looking after a toddler & baby, which also rules out going to the pub
