Default Windy

It's gone very windy the last couple of days here in Perth hasn't it?
Is this the norm this time of year or is this a freaky year weather wise.

The humidity has been very unusual for Perth this year, but I would say that it's been less windy than normal. Perth is known as one of the windiest cities in the world - the locals will often tell you it's the second windiest after Chicago, but there's all sorts of different opinions on how to measure it.

Normally March and April are regarded as the best months for weather, as it's still warm during the day (but not scorching) with milder winds. However, the past couple of years March and April have been different from Perth's normal autumn. Normally the weather breaks in mid-May and it starts raining and moving into winter, but that has tended to be later recently as well.

So, expect more wind and a few wild weather nights during winter. Stock up on candles and make sure you have a torch or two, with spare batteries.

Perth is one of the windiest cities on the planet. I "think" from memory it is the third. I believe this is your first winter - get ready for a surprise. Perth is also pretty wet. Its rainfall is actually higher than London. The first winter i hated because it was just like the UK in November but with houses that have no heating and are badly designed for winter. Now though its a nice reprieve from the heat.

Oh, and you will be surprised at how cold it gets!

Going off topic. Did you know that Chicago is not really very windy? It's called the windy city because of the politics.

In fact every city in Australia has a rainfall higher than London except Adelaide.

London has a fairly low rainfall by global standards.
