Will we find a decent house gold coast for under 500k
Hi
been living in adelaide for last 4 years, and totally fed up of it now.
Problem is Oh recently made redundant so we are pondering whether to return to uk,as with the current exchange rate, we could manage there to buy a house with no mortgage and still have a reasonable amount of savings.Or shall we try the gold coast.(which we liked when we visited)
In order for the gold coast to be financially viable we would need to secure a house for under $500 k including all costs such as stamp duty etc.
Do you think its possible to do this in a nice area?or are we dreaming?

The saying "if it's too good to be true it usually is" applies to Australian housing more than anything. It depends on what you want in a house or not. obviosuyl property in the GC will be more expensive than Adelaide.

the area we live in here in adelaide has more expensive houses, there isnt one on our estate under $599,but yes if you go much further way from civilisation you could get one for less than $300

It depends on what sort of house you want and where you want to be, but it's not impossible. Have you looked at www.realestate.com.au

I think it is possible, but you may need to compromise on the house if you want the location.....What areas did you like the look of when you came?
We came from Adelaide after two years there. Coming here was hard in the beginning (starting over etc) but so glad we did it now.
Good Luck with whatever you choose to do

My girlfriend in Brisbane is selling a 6 bedroomed house on the Gold Coast in a very nice place called Southport for around $550000.....she is keen to come and live with me in England and so would probably look at offers....the address of the property is 16 Joan St Southport....so take a look at it on the internet...I think it's ridiculously cheap....but then I'm used to Engliish prices.
