Yep agree, i found Perth boring. Obviously my opinion so those that love it don't get your knickers in a twist.
After 3 years been there, done it all, bored to tears, so we move away as quick as we could.
If you love beaches and BBq's you'll be sorted. I wanted more.

But did'nt you know in Perth the main passtimes would be beaches and BBQ's before you moved there, you did'nt seriously think it would be a center for Art, history and culture,

Nope i didn't realise Perth was so bland, but we came and gave it a go, can't say we didn't try. Didn't come for Art or history either, just fancied a change, something to do, change of senery and all that jazz!! Now i know better and i'm so glad.

Well maybe but then again maybe not,as that is the latest info put out by the West Australian Tourist Bureau, after a fall in numbers, one perhaps should still proceed with caution if intending to camper van around the state.

I am sure we can...but that was the info wanted by Kate, think she must have formed an idea by now, especially if going back over past threads.
Must say Perth does cop a lot of flack, far more than other cities and i do wonder is this not a little unfair??I mean are Adelaide or Brisbane really any better?

Thanks everyone for you replies I have indeed formed an idea, would Brissie or the Sunshine Coast be better for someone in my position? The houses look very expensive on the Sunshine Coast, more expensive than about 10 months ago, is this correct?

These suburbs are probably some of the more expensive Perth suburbs, but are older established suburbs, they tend to have a more interesting and diverse style of housing, and more things to do. When we were in Perth last year we lived in Como/South Perth. South Perth has a lovely feel to it and there are loads of one and two bedroom apartments for rent mixed in with older style family homes. A lot of people walk their dogs, kids walk and ride to school, lots of tree lined streets and parks, the Perth Zoo and it's on the river. Just a very pleasant relaxing place to live.
Lived by thr river in Applecross for eighteen months on coming to Perth in the nineties, and yes very well to do with some lovely other just plan obstentatious housing, with wonderful tree lined streets, and yes loads of folk walking their dogs in front of the house but did find especially the matrons of Applecross difficult to connect with and a more than a few not a little pretentious. Was more than happy to move to inner city for a greater range of possibilities.
