If you have been following the financial pages of late you may have noticed that the low interest rates are not expected to last very long and in fact they are worried that they are going to rise and with all the stimulus at the moment we may get hyper inflation.
Personally the interest rates are too low for us we need to live on our money and we need them to be higher. If they are not higher then more of us become a drain on the tax payer. So taxes will have to rise. So its a catch 22 situation.

And Ian MacGregor was Canadian or American, or at least he spoke with an american accent. On second thoughts, maybe he was from Rotherham, but just talked funny.

Fixed term rates are rising. Thats because they dont expect rates to fall too much further, so bascially they are covering their ass long term, if you fix now they dont want you to have a cheap mortage once rates rise.
Yes Banks always win, but its a indication the big banks feel rates cuts will slow/stop after a few more cuts, that is probably based on the fact some positive economic signs coming out ( that would be overseas signs despite australia currently being one of the latter to fall into the pit) , USA for eg has had some positive stats come out, as have some housing markets, share markets...
Edit - saw the UK housing market has risen 3 months in a row, 1.8% last month, anyone looking for those 55% off bargains LOL will have to get their skates on.
