I honestly believe it's the Poms living in ghettos with too many debts and chasing an finite source of income to pay for an artificial bought lifestyle is where traditionally on this site people appear to become unstuck, or people who miss their family back home (pull rather than push).

I dont get the point of all this at all!, everyone on this forum knows the title do they not?
BritishExpats.com they must have sat down and googled it, or used another search with the words British or Expats, they must have joined knowing it is for British Expats, why then say they dont want to live near British Expats?
The very people they dont want to live near are in the same position as them, they have left Blighty to live abroad also.
I do get not wanting to live in rough areas such as Hoon Town's or skank row, but come on! the Brits living here are here in most part due to their hard work and determination and I for one would rather live near them than these up-their own arse Mrs Bucket's posting here.

Surely what people should be thinking is that they are mixing with, and making friends with, PEOPLE! Doesn't matter whether the friends you make are Brits, Aussies, Poles, Kiwis, S Africans, Irish etc etc - its the people that matter, not the nationality.
I do admit that I like having Brit friends because I can identify with them - phrases, words, humour, experiences, we've all been through the same stuff. But equally, if I like a person I don't care what nationality they are. I don't say to myself "right, this week I'm only friendly with Aussies and don't want to talk to the Brits", or vice versa. Didn't act like that in the UK and don't act like it here.

In my best Dafyd voice " We're the only poms in this village"
I/we like living here we live with real people there's no keeping up with the Jones' very little bigotry towards us, sure you get the odd ****ing poms etc. but thats all part of living here. We tell a lot of Aussies where we live and they say no way would we live there it's full of ferals and pot smoking wasters. Not true it's really just rural Australia, not outback, just rural. A lot are bitter because low incomes & escalating house prices have forced them away from the more affluent suburbs places like Budrim, Mooloolaba and Noosa. To me it's a two edged sword most have cashed in on the boom bought a house here where it's still very affordable and are mortgage free. Others and this is where we find the most resentment are the ones that blame the housing boom on the influx of Poms or Victorians or South Australians they want to live there and can't afford to.
People here don't have pots of money, most are hard working hard playing good honest people. Doors aren't locked here sheds are open front farm type ones. There really is very little thieving and the odd stuff that does go walkabout is often an insurance job. The mates I've made here are ones I drink with fish with, talk shit around the BBQ with, they're part of everyday life.
I've also met some very good mates on the forum, I've been around a long time and so have most of my mates on here. Expat mates have all been through exactly the same experience and share a common empathy, consequently you can share problems and talk about things that non-Expats just don't comprehend or care about. We don't live in each others pockets and sometimes go weeks without a phone call but we know that if something happens they're only a call away.

I don't think we are saying we don't want to live near BE's, I am saying that we shouldn't live in an area just because it is full of BE's. We should live in an area that suits our lifestyle, budget and if there are BE's then all the better but I think that moving to an area because it is full of BE's isn't the best reason.
The reason most of us come on here is to help the people who are trying to go through the same process we did, as others helped us when we were trying to get a visa. I certainly don't come on here just to catch up with BE's.
Don't get me wrong, I love meeting up with BE's and hang around with a few, I just don't go looking for them, same as I don't look for Aussies, Ukranians, Egyptians, Indians, Croatians but I have friends from all of those nationalities. In the good parts of Oz, it is a real melting pot and 10 nationalities can live on the same street and get on brilliantly, this is one thing I love about the place but the more we try to populate areas by nationality the less this will happen. Because of the immigration policy Australia doesn't seem to have one leading nationality it is totally multi cultural and that is a great thing. I just think that people should bare this in mind when they come here, if they do multi culturalism will flourish.
