Maybe I should turn the question around

What industry specific experience or skill sets do you offer?

In my opinion there is no point in dumbing down especially if your going to be asked "so what have you been doing in past few months?". Beware also taking committments for work that prevents you from taking up potential interview timeslots (think location and availability).

Have a look through www.seek.com.au for relevant agents and type of work being offered perm/temp.

Plenty of Labourers jobs in the building industry at present. Lots of Data Entry work. Plenty of Telephone sales.

You'lll be in a job very quickly if you are willing to take anything on. In fact as GG suggests the Job Market in Melbourne is such that you can probably afford to be Choosy.

Try Australia post. They will have part time work for sure. They tend to make the Parttimers full time after a year. If you have a Motorbike licence you will get in fairly easily. Starting rates will be around 18 -19 bucks per hour.

Also try Hoban recruitment for jobs on the Railways and trams. I think it's Hoban that recruit for the Prison service as well, where there are always vacancies.

Other areas to look at are jobs as PCA's Personal Care Attendants in hospitals, mostly geriatric, I think there is a two week minimum course you have to go on for that. If the Hospital likes you they will employ you whilst you do a Nursing course.

I'll ask one of my builder mates, when I see him, where the best place to go at present for labourers jobs are.

Just checked on the Apost website and apparently there only limited jobs at present. Still it's worth applying..... It's bullsheet actually because we are always shortstaffed where I work.
