Re: Who's heading to Qld 2010?
Great to see everyone with all their plans to nove to OZ. We are just starting off the process but as I am a nurse, in priority processing category 4, for 175 visa, hoping to be there by the end of the year.
Just booked my IELTS for next month.: ohmy: By god that looks bad. Anyone got any tips on how to pass.
Just starting work on the house to prepare for selling.
Have job secured for when I get there. Will be landing in Brisbane, working in Greenslopes. Any nice areas near there????? Anyone ! Anyone !!!!!
Going to rent for 6-12 months to let us settle in and find somewhere we want to buy and settle. Got a 4 and 5 year old boy and girl who think they are going to see Kangaroos all the time Fab.
Sooooooo excited.

Congratulations
Good choice with Brisbane, Greenslopes is quite a good area but expensive due to proximity to the CBD even though a lot of the houses seem quite small, actually, all of the areas surrounding it are nice too and you can go quite a long way south and still be in good areas. Just see what rental property you can get but demand is outstripping supply so prices are going up fast
There are parks in Brisbane where you can go feed the Kangaroos, can't remember which ones exactly but our 4 and 6 year olds loved it, there are also loads of play areas for kids and they don't get vandalised or have beer cans and rubbish everywhere (very different to the UK). The decent beaches are a bit of a trek north to Sunshine Coast or south to Gold Coast though, the closest beach with real waves is Bribie Island which is about an hour.
Good luck with the IELTS, there are some practice materials available on the web, have a look in the Immigration section for more information and experiences from the test days though.

For IELTS do a search or ask in the Immigration forum found here:-

Also look in the dedicated nursing forum.

Thanks for advice!
Just ordered Peter May book off Amazon. I crumble at tests like these. So fingers crossed. Gonna take some time off to do some revision . Booked test for end of Feb. Should be time enough. Can't wait to get the ball rolling......
Lyx: congrats on your visa. Only taken 5 months then? I better get a move on with getting the house ready to sell etc..... etc.......

Hi I'm in Brisbane now, been here since november 18th, I am still waiting for my visa thanks to sept 23rd changes, my girlfriend has been here for 15 months, and I have been coming here to see her. We are looking to live at Wellington point. Anyone in the Bayside area?
