It's like that stupid argument that alcohol can't be sold at petrol stations because we'll all start getting pissed at the wheel. In our bit of Europe (not too far from Vienna) you can buy any booze you like at virtually all garages and - surprise, surprise - it hasn't led to any greater incidence of drink driving.

It is interesting that the biggest complainers are the Australian Hoteliers Association are one of the biggest opponents of the law. They stand to lose with competition to the bottle shops attached to the hotels. Also interesting is they are one of the biggest donors to the NSW Labour party. NSW has also been opposing the move to increase competition in the liqor sales industry.
