Re: Where to live in Australia!
Thank you all so far. Some hopefully comments indeed.
Personally I am thinking I wont like brisbane that much at all, but gold coast ticks the boxes - house price, weather, surf. With birssy maybe being a commuter option work wise. Melbourne sounds great from what ive read on the net, and perth has the weather and some jobs in my sector plus is close to real untouched australia, which is appealing. As you can see it gets no easier. |

I don't think theres much in it in terms of affordability between Sydney and Melbourne if you take into account the fact that job opportunities in Sydney are far better and wages there are higher .
You could argue forever about the weather in the two cities but i'd say generally Melbourne has better weather in Summer/ Autumn , in Sydney Winter / Spring would have the edge. My job (IT project manager) pays better in Melbourne according to Hays Salary Survey. I don't believe the extra salary available in many jobs in Sydney actually makes up for the extra cost in housing. You can still buy a new 4 bed house close to the sea within 1 hours commute of the CBD for 400k in Melbourne. You can even get older 3 bed houses in the same location for the 300s. Equivalent properties in Sydney could well be in the 600s + Buzzy |
