Where to live...?
Hi all, my first post so here goes..............
Me and the mrs have been keen to emigrate for a while and appointed an agent today. I am applying for a skilled independant visa as a bricklayer so hopefully won't have too many probs gaining it. We have no family ties to any particular area so we are totally open to where we move to.
We have a 6 year old boy and 2 year old girl so want to move for the better quality of life. Can anyone suggest areas to look at for living in? We are leaning towards Perth but are totally open to any suggestions.
What are the pros and cons for Perth, Brisbane etc?
Are there any websites where we can compare life in each state/city?
Cheers for any advice you can give!

Re: Where to live...?
Hi Damien
Have a read of the recent post 'Adelaide - the recce', don't discount here as it is family friendly, has a great climate and is quieter than the other cities you've mentioned. Just don't tell Wendy I'm trying to encourage more people to come here
Good luck with it anyway.

Damien,
There are loads of threads on here about everywhere in Australia, you'd be better to do a search and read a few of the comments on each state. To be honest it's really hard to give someone advice on where to live, because what one likes others don't.
Can you give us an idea of what you are looking for? What are the important things for you? maybe narrow it down a bit

Re: Where to live...?
Seriously though .....you are the only ones , that can decide where you want to live.....
I would recommend if you can to travel around , so you can at least get an idea of where you like....and where you don't....
Biggest mistake would be to go somewhere purely on what other people tell you....!

Re: Where to live...?
Cheers all!
We are just really excited now we have started the whole process and want to get some initial ideas/opinions on each area. We want somewhere we can bring our kids up, not too expensive to live (ie not Sydney!), plenty of work for a brickie and there's got to be loads of good fishing for me!!
We are totally open with no opinions on any city/state - let's face it it's got to be better than Swindon!!
