All you can say about that performance is that that we got what was coin to us, phil neville !!!!!!!! i'll say again phil neville, i ave to say it twice as i just don't understand why he is there.
And as for hardgreaves comin on for gerrard i bet the portos were quaking seeing him do the wing.
I don't think we could ave been anymore defensively mind if we tried.
we all knew what was comin, i just wish ericsson could see it .
Never mind theres always the olmypics to look forward to, should at least get one bronze there

Hi All

Well it's happened again, out on penalties.

However, it does put things into perspective, for me anyway. The fact that we are are migrating to Oz and all the trials and tribulations that brings, going out of the competition is just a mere blot on the landscape.

Dissapointed yes but more important things on the agenda at the mo, and don't forget, the World Cup is in 2 years time!!!

When will we learn?????? When will we learn??????

Unfortunately they can't learn and play football at the same time. Which is why they do the same thing over and over again.

Hi All

Leave Mottty be, he's a national treasure, same mold as our Sir Bobby Robson, getting on a bit, mumbles a lot and get things wrong!!

Reasons to be chearful:

Look on the bright side. In 2006 for the World Cup we will all be in Oz watching the football in the middle of the night, what could be better? Tinnies at 4am, then off to the surf, personally I can't wait.

Because Gerrard was running around asleep thinking he had to pass to people in orange. Why Hargreaves, because the other subs had been used because some silly boy who can score goals thought it would be clever to continue to run, then turn and kick withouth a bl**dy boot on.

Come on Hevs. It's a question of national pride. I've been waiting all my life for us to win something at this sport.

To have it ripped from me by some prick of a ref is really more than I can take. Still Mad....

We won the game fair and square. Never mind how we played. We won the f**king game.

They have GOT to bring in a second ref, using video playback. These pathetic decisions are ruining the game.

And I thought the Swiss were meant to be neutral!!!

Hi

I've been waiting all my life for Newcastle to win something never mind England!!

I was praying that this year would be the year for the Toon as it's my last season here but alas not to be.

Sometimes you just get the feeling that some things just won't happen..................

On a more sympathetic note thou, the ref was crap it was a def goal by Campbell, but as mentioned in earlier threads I have more important things to worry bout, like emmigration!!

We get up at 3.45am, down to the Pig & Whistle in the city.

Sitting there with our beers eagerly waiting for the game that would take us through to the semi's (along with about 3 hundred other Brits).

To wittness the ensuing sickening spectacle turns my stomach. I don't think I've got much breath left to hold Hevs.

Just like 98. Disallowed goal and knocked out on penalties.

Gutted, but on the plus side at least we didn't lose to krauts or argies.
Very true it does make you feel a little better. Only a little though!1

Andrew P is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Tactically unaware

The problem has to stem from what the team is told on the trainign pitch. If Sven is instructing the team to 'defend as deep as possible, don't whatever you do try and catch them off side'. What is the team supposed to do?

James should be a lot more aware and tell the defenders to bloody push out of his box!

I suppose it is too much to hope that Henman will win Wimbledon and England will beat the Aussies at rugby?!?!?!?!
