Click on school education and parent link to take you to:

You should (might?) find something there about minimum starting age but there's lots of other good info anyway. Good luck!

Have a look on www.gomatilda.com
Click on personal issues on the top row and then click on schools from the menu down the right hand side.
You can access websites for schools from all over Oz. I think they start school when they are 6. my eldest two are 10 & 8 and the littlest is 4 months so I've been looking for some time now.

PS Where abouts are you in Dorset? We're in Poole

My daughter started school when she was 4 years 8 months old.
She is now in her 4th year of full time schooling ( year 3), and has just turned 8yrs old.
And she is off sick today, but crying because she wants to go to school !!

It depends which state you are in. In NSW the cut off date is 31st July and they start the following Jan/Feb.
HOWEVER.........they are reluctant to take children if their 4th birthday is in May-July. They would rather you held them back a year so they start at 5 and a half not four and a half. Seems a bit mad to me. My older daughter is an August birthday and started in reception in the UK just after her fourth birthday. She'd be in year 3 in the UK right now. She's in year 2 here though. We had the option of putting her in year 3, but felt socially she should be with children of her own age.
