Store it in a proper hard case and keep it away from windows.

Do you have to use humidifiers (is that what they are called?) with them? Surely, even in a case, heat ain't good for a geetarr...

You mean dehumidifier?
Humidifiers and dehumidifiers do the opposite things.

We have a built in hygrometer in DD's cello case. If it reads too damp when we open the case, we throw in a sachet of silica gel until the reading comes down into the normal range, but rarely have to do that as the seal on the case is really good.

Heat may affect metal strings, so it is best to keep the case in a cool area, and definitely out of sunlight.

If one is a top giutarist, no worries, it shouldnt last that long to get overheated,
the good rocker usually smashes it after 1-2 giggs.

Good news

Do you think this heatwave was much worse than previous ones. IME Victoria seems to get a run of very high 30's/40+ most years. Was it just the duration that was worse this time? Or was it much hotter as well.

I think I read that this 4 consecutive days of 40+ was a first in 100 years type thing for Melbourne. For me the issue is sleepless nights...simple aircon would fix that.

Contrary to popular folklore on BE Melbourne only gets on average 1 or 2 40C days a year and not that many days over 35C.

Yay, it's arrived 24C now with a nice breeze - windows open to cool the house down and we should have a cooler night

Raining here in Adelaide now - with a spectacular light show going on. Fingers crossed for no new fires though
