Question What are you all doing about renting when you arrive?

We are off to sunny Brisbane in August and were wondering what you were all planning to do about accommodation on arrival.

We are intending to ship our belongings just before we leave therefore we have been trying to book a fully furnished apartment for 6-8 weeks just until our ship comes in. Then we will take out a 6 month lease on an unfurnished apartment whilst we consider buying somewhere. This wil give us some time to rekkie the area.

We have had a look at some apartments such as Kangaroo Apartments at Kangaroo Point, Lagoon Apartments, Happy Koala Homes etc etc and these all seem very nice but pricey at $600+ /week.

Just interested to know what the other alternatives might be.

I guess some of you maybe shipping your gear weeks before you leave and stay with family/friends before you go?

PS We have a 2 year old boy which discounts anything other than self catered apartments.

Check out some of the back packer places as some of them offer various types of accommodation including small appartments and you can usually get things like free internet or meals etc. Always worth checking out until you find somewhere to rent long term.
