You can get them here, is my stance. Infact you can buy some beautiful clothes which rival any English brand - and are an exact equivalent actually. (Infact in some instances, the price ain't that bad at all to be honest when you look at the quality and the time they will last). Apart from the shirt with effing collars - again! I went to Myer and D Jones on Tueday, a year on from last time I went, and looked at their British top of the line shirt - one of the most expensive they sell. (They've stopped stocking another line that passed muster a year ago and was a bit pricey at $150+ a shirt so I gave it a miss last time). This current one was shite. I'm not prepared to hunt in select boutiques and expect to find one decent brand in one of those stores. Other side of coin: I've since discovered from my sartorial sources that some English shirts, once the straight-forward golden boys of Saville Row and the City are also on the way down and that old favourite brands have gone slightly south since I started buying them 20 odd years ago..... |

Re: What are the things that...
Books. I have no problem with clothes, I find what I want at a reasonable price and my teenage daughters are the same. Quality and style seem great to me.

Well, compared to the US, the UK clothes shopping experience is a living hell, so I'm getting worried about what Australia will be like :-)
Not too fussy about latest fashions, but just want to be able to find clothes easily at a fair price... Clothes are plentiful in Oz, just not very good quality. A M&S here would be heaven!! |

Re: What are the things that...
Book prices are mental. Even second hand book stores charge nearly double Waterstones etc for books. Not been reading much lately though so hasn't been a bind....

Re: What are the things that...
If you are looking forward to a 24 hr flight and don't want to look like a washed out rag when you arrive, try looking up Eterna Shirts. Crease resistant, sweat resistant etc. Not cheap at 39 pounds but worth every penny and will last for yonks and have a choice of collar styles.
