We also packed a couple of 4-6 gang extension leads, then just changed the plugs on them to charge our UK mobile phone's, laptop's etc and more in our container for all our UK appliances, why change 6 plugs when you can change 1? I packed a set of bedding for each of us. I also kept hold of my Macbook (which I cuddled nearly all the way here for fear of it getting damaged). Kids had a few small favourite toys & a fleece blanket each which they used on the plane. Nothing like something familiar smelling to snuggle up under. I also bought over a jar of lemon curd that I bought in Llandudno a couple of weeks before we left the UK. Nearly lost that at customs as it's made with egg but as it wasn't homemade & had the ingredients listed they decided I could keep it. It's still sitting in the fridge waiting to be opened :p Alison x |

We also did the same thing. Glad we did as we can't change the plugs on my fairy lights

We bought a pile of multi-plug power boards with extension cord with us - unfortunately my husband had them in hand luggage and Dubai customs confiscated all of them. We also had the mac's - me my imac and then the other four with their macbooks. Bugger the clothes and bedding, you can always buy them when you arrive, it's the ability to stay on BE that counts.
Had a couple more in the suitcase which got here fine, our iMac came by ship though! |

Also what could come in handy in the longer term will be 1 or 2 of the single gang extension lead sockets for use in places where you only need to use a single UK adapter. The next challenge will then be to find safe Aussie plugs to fit to them - and at a reasonable price. The cheapest that I could find was about $2.50 each but they were shite quality and hard work to wire up safely . Bought two of those so far but now need to source some better quality ones. |

Great question.
Colouring books and pencils. Anything you can think of to entertain on the flight. |
Re: What to take in suitcase?!
I don't know if it's a problem in Melbourne, but where we live in Perth it's not uncommon to have power outages. If you're bringing power boards for your UK equipment, it might be a good idea for them to be surge protector ones (or whatever they're called).
