Do I assume that they do not appear in QLD? I don't give a monkey's how cute or useful they are, they can stay away from my property. Don't think hubby could cope with the screaming.

OMG!

The snakes I can deal with even close up but I can't stand spiders! We had some inside awhile ago that could jump and they were really freaking me out.

We have 2 spiders that must be in the same family as the spider pictured as they build a web each night etc etc but luckily they are alot smaller and as long as I know where they are I can deal with it and plan my route accordingly

'Fraid not. In the link posted by a previous poster it states that the golden orb weaver is the largest spider found in Brisbane. I've never seen one, though.

Apparently if it weaves a web it is unlikely to be dangerous although may still bite. It's the ground dwellers you need to stay away from. To be safe I give them all a wide berth!
