We're moving to Oz & had planned to bring our "Smart" car. It now appears that due to the LHD I can't bring the car over so now have extra space in the container. What should I be bringing? Our antiques should be worth while, what other stuff should one bring along that is unique to / cheaper in the UK?

I occasionally see a LHD car on the road here in Oz. Have the laws changed ? Ask in
the NG aus.cars Also I'm a little lost, what do you mean by "Smart car"

Car's not a good idea, unless it is a model available here which meeets ADR's
(Australian Design Rules), which I'm sure the Smart Car wouldn't; besides which
service and parts would be an omgoing hassle. Personally I'd stick to high quality
furniture, books, art etc; certainly antiques - maybe audio/video stuff - but only if
it's of the highest quality. Frankly there's not much that's cheaper in the UK than
it is here!!

Some audio/video equipment may be a problem, as TV sound in Australia uses a
different broadcast system. Media itself will be okay though. (Except to play
region 2 DVD in Australia, you would need a multi-region player if you don't have
one already).
