Default What is a Reasonable Rent?

Have decided to rent for at least 6 months when we get to Melbourne so we can first get a feel for the area and where we might eventually want to buy. Will be looking at a 2 or 3 bedroom villa/unit/house/town house in the Malvern East/Glen Iris area. Just wondering what is considered reasonable rent for these areas. Don't want to spend too much.

Reasonable Rent - isn't that an oxymoron?

Not sure this is exactly what you are after but i am paying $330 per week for a 4 bed detatched high set (house rather than bungalow) on a gated development with use of the communal swimming pool.

This is in Brisbane though, hence it may not be exactly what you want!

That is bloody good - I have just started looking for a place in Brissie for 1 and I am looking at 250-200 for a 1-2-3 bed place. Where about in Brissie are you if you don't mind me asking and sorry for hijacking the post.

A place called North Lakes, about 30K's north of Brisbane, about 5 minutes from a place called Redcliffe.

To be honest it was the best place i saw and the cheapest !! The others i had looked at ranged from 380-450 !
