what to put in your suitcase
#1
have got a good idea now on what is to go in our container, but what about the suitcases
when the container disappears into the sunset from sunny cov....we will be left with 4 suitcases( one for each of us ), i have already told the other half that we will fill a large holdall with kids school uniform and bumming around clothes that we can chuck out before we head off to aus.....there will be a gap of about 6-8 weeks after being made homeless and heading off to aus
so other than clothes what else do we need to think of packing in our suitcases to get us through 6-8 weeks here and a short time in aus (at least when we get to aus we can hit the shops )

If I knew then what I know now then I would have packed my suitcase with more Marmite!
In the 9 weeks we've been here I've lived in shorts, t'shirts and flips flops. Winter is on it's way though so the jumpers and jackets we've brought will finally come in useful.
Bit of helpful advice, get some clothing vacumn bags to pack your clothes into your suitcases. It'll save an absolute bundle of space and a tiny but of weight.
Have you already validated you visa? If not you get double baggage allowance.
Leaving big bad Cov hey! Don't blame ya!

Kids' school reports or they may well be put in the dunce class! Also, schools like to see immunisation records. You may need original documentation like birth/ wedding certificates, qualifications, driving licences, if you are planning on opening bank accounts, getting cars and looking for work etc before your container arrives.

Things like toiletries etc i'll keep to the bare minimum and buy as soon as we get out there....

Food I can live without but in ours there will definitely be our full duty free booze allowance. (It's dirt cheap at Changi.) We took some on our looksee last week and left it with friends, and my husband will be doing likewise when he goes there on business in a fortnight.
I have my priorities sorted.
Seriously, no great stress at this end because we'll be going a day after we pack up but I will pack:
a variety of clothes for all temperatures (although I own hardly any warm ones), my huge array of meds, enough toiletries to keep us going a week or so, vital documents - in hand luggage - and probably a few basic cooking utensils 'cos we're going straight into our unfurnished rental.
Very lucky in that The Geek can take some bedding and towels when he goes on business plus maybe some clothes as he gets a double allowance. Don't think it will cover a bed though.
