We'v just purchased two vadafone oz sim cards off ebay just to put us on when we get out there until we get a land line set up. Just wondering what are the best deals as far as sim cards go out there. The ones we got come with the following:

Telstra charged about 25 bucks for a sim for a Nokia phone.

I don't know much about mobiles but think you also have to get them
"unlocked" too so you can use them over here.

Ye both ours are unlocked, thought it wasnt a bad deal just to get us up and running plus we can give the no's to everyone before we go. Hows the weather in cairns at the moment Bix, cant wait to see some hot sunshine

I use vodafone and have been happy for the last couple of years with them.

The maxicap deals they offer are cool and cost effective with good network coverage.

isim.com.au are very cheap. I've used them the past 6 months with no probs. Something like 19c text, 35c text to UK. 39c per min all times all networks no connection fee and charged per second. One of the best deals around if you arent a heavy user. You can't make international calls but can send international texts. Its on Optus so excellent coverage.
