Hi All. We are hoping to get a Temporary Contributory parent Visa 173 to join children in WA. We are both 70 years of age and our UK Drivers Licences run out in2018. I have read that we can continue to drive on Uk Licences until they run out. ALSO we have to apply for a WA Licence within 3 months of becoming permanent Residents. As we are only just lodging the Visa application it seems unlikely that we would be PR for some years ( the temp visa is for 2 years). Does anyone know if we could get WA Licence with only Temporary Visas?

Within that site, there is a section for 'visiting from overseas' (which they tend to class temp residents as) which says that if your overseas licence expires, you must apply for a WA driving licence, so it must be allowed
There are contact details on the website for you to get a definitive answer.
