Default What clothes to pack for christmas and new year in Cairns

We are off to Cairns from Darwin for the whole of the festive period and just wondered if the Cairns possie could advise on what sort of clothing to pack for the men folk and me.
Hoping to pack light says the OH however being the only female and the only sensible one in the family i want to make sure the clothing is appropriate.
Is the weather anything like Darwin in terms of temp and humidity?

Im trying to be organised so any advice will be a great help.

That about covers it.

Think it's very much like Darwin except your base temperature is usually a few degrees higher.

It'll be high humidity with something like 32 deg by day and 23 deg by night. (plus or minus 2 deg either way)

Don't bring the fur coat.

Personally, I'd travel light.

Thongs, shorts and 'Tee' shirts will be all you need in the clothing range, with perhaps an extra 'Tee' shirt without advertising for formal occasions.

This will leave extra space in your luggage for your cyclone survival kit.

Have a great time

Just as likely to get a cyclone in Darwin as you are in Cairns, so I wouldn't worry any more than usual Mandy

Yeah but we've just been "fingered" so look out.

Cairns is recognised as a city well prepared for disaster, according to criteria set by the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) Making Cities Resilient Campaign.

Cairns Regional Council will host UN Special Representative Margareta Wahlstrom, tomorrow, who will talk about the UNISDR campaign aimed at aiding local governments world wide to become resilient to disaster. Ms Wahlstrom will present the Mayor with a certificate in recognition of the region’s efforts in tropical cyclone preparedness.

I know! International recognition for Cairns - you just have to live up to the hype when the next cyclone comes knocking......
