It may not be deadly but must still pack a fair punch if you're that ill with it, maybe you have an adverse reaction to them, put them on your "to be avoided" list and your "to be stamped on, squashed, sprayed or splattered" list

I think the key is to put things away in drawers rather than being lazy and leaving them on the floor :rolleyes: Good housekeeping is fairly essential here.
I don't know how you'll cope but let me reassure you I've spent years in Australia and this is my first spider bite ever. They're not 'normal' every day things. I know loads of Aussies who've never been bitten by anything.
I think the view you need to take is that most spiders here eat things you wouldn't want in your house anyway... so they're good to have around.

I'm getting clothes in off the line all the time and I hardly ever see the things because most of them are timid.

My bite today was just like an ant bite... I felt it very quickly and brushed the spider off. All of these things give me the creeps a bit but I think over time that I will toughen up and acclimatise. After all, look what our forebears had to put up with and they made it through.
The most important thing you should do in these circumstances is try to ID the spider so you know whether to seek help or not.
You'll be fine. :)

Must go and find a book to help me id any creepies. :scared:
Seriously I know I just have to be careful and make sure my
three sons are aware. A new country new rules.

I have been trying to be really brave and rationalise with myself if I see a spider here, but to be honest I am still totally petrified of them :scared:

I have been asking lots of questions on here about spiders, and was starting to feel quite positive as most people say you really don't see anything.
Now I'm really scared. Whether it bit me or not, I would freak at even having one on my shoulder!!

I know I am a wimp. Perhaps I really should have that hypnotherapy.

It's ok to freak. I did. I screamed 'SHIT!' at the top of my voice as I flicked it off my shoulder (You'll find instinct takes over). I felt quite shocked, but hey, look at me... I'm still alive and it was just a bit of nausea and a headache. Now it's gone! No worries!

There are some things you just have to acclimatise to out here and the crawly things are some of them. In a few years we'll all be old pros at this, sweeping the things out of the house like it was nothing. It's ALL about exosure. Aussies are used to this and we are not. Give yourself time. :)
