During non-rush hour the drive from Bellbowrie to the CBD is about 30 minutes. Not sure about rush hour - probably 40 minutes to an hour. You can also take the bus to Indooroopilly (20 minutes non-rush hour) and then the train to the city (5-10 minutes).

Bellbowrie to Brisaben with no traffic would take maybe 30 minutes and maybe 40-50 in heavy traffic. It is definitely close enough to drive in and I'm sure there'll be an intermittent bus service.
Future population growth in Brisbane is all expected to be in the west and therefore Bellbowrie is perfectly located for future increases in house and land prices.
Kenmore is maybe 10kms (if that) from Bellbowrie and has a very good state school and a number of good restaurants and takeaways as well as two modest sized shopping centres. A bit further to Indooroopilly and you get a large indoor shopping centre anrd train access to the CBD.
Western suburbs are typically 2-3C hotter than the rest of Brisbane (and 2-3C cooler in the winter).
Bellbowrie is not remotely 'outback' as someone else suggested, it is barely "bush".

As has already been said, 25 minutes travel to Brisbane and anything from 40 minutes upwards in rush hour. However, they are duelling an extra bit of Moggill Road (the only road into the city) so we've got a year of traffic nightmare but there should be some small improvement after that.
The three suburbs of Bellbowrie, Moggill and Anstead are all joined together and separate from the city so there is very much a community feel here. Its a nice family area with soccer, hockey and rugby club for the kids. There's a good (relatively
) supermarket here, a very nice bakery and all the other shops you need for day to day. Indooroopilly has, imo, one of the nicest shopping centres in Brisbane with a big cinema, so, apart from work, there isn't really much reason to go into the CBD. As Jayr said, there's nothing bush about Bellbowrie. Its a well established suburb with largish blocks. Moggill is a bit more housing estatey but has some lovely views. Depending on where you live, there are breezes to be had so its not as hot as everybody makes out. Anstead is more bush, we are surrounded by rainforest here which is just the way we like it.
Any more questions, feel free to PM me.

Other local attractions in and around Bellbowrie include the delightful "College's Crossing" which is a great park past Anstead (and past Mt. Crosby if I remember correctly) where the Brisbane river has a bend and forms a small pond. The river is very shallow and full of kids playing in the summer depsite the fact that bull sharks are known to be there!
Go out a bit further (well, quite a bit) and visit Lake Wivenhoe, though that may be more "puddle" Wivenhoe since I last went. Great park area, wood burining BBQ and real live wild koalas in one of the gums.
Drive around Pullenvale area and look out for wild deer. Come in from Bellbowrie a bit and visit Brookfield - it's like being in the country while 3 minutes away from Coles. I went to the Brookfield show (annual) at the weekend which mixes jam, pickle, needlework competitions with woodchopping, Monster trucks, stock car smash ups etc along with funfair.
From Bellbowrie Ipswich is close and while not a place on most tourist's maps it has another nice urban park with an animal enclosure thing which is great for kids. Also has a nice art gallery with lots of interactive kids stuff.
Take a trip out to Lake Manchester, though the 5km hike to the lake itself should be reserved for the cooler winter months.

My boy met up with his friends and saw loads of other kids he knew so it seems its the place to be for local teenagers.
It meant we had a chance to go drink at the bar for a change.

Which bar were you in, the top bar or the one at the bottom? I was in the top bar with friends. We left after the fireworks just as it was starting to fill up with local teens. A friend of ours said the police had concerns of some planned gang violence erupting! I couldn't quite imagine that at the Brookfield show! We returned Sunday evening to see the medieval thing, monster truck etc. Couldn't really see the cars smash up as we totally clouded in dust.

Not, really, I play tennis at Brookfield, there just wasn't anybody we knew in the bar.
We were stood at the fence so we could see the fireworks. We left after the fireworks too, but only 'cos we thought it finished then and we'd arranged to meet the boy. It was very dusty with the motorbikes too. I can't see gang violence in Brookfield, either, 'cos its a posh suburb.

They have just started to widen the Moggill Road from Kenmore to Pullenvale and it's a nightmare in rush hour !!
