Default We've arrived!!!

So here we are! We arrived in Nelson on Friday a bit cold!! but soon sorted out the log burner! The flight was good except the five our delay at Auckland due to Christchurch airport being closed due to bad weather. We drove upto Nelson on Friday the views were breath taking....thanks for the recomended routes (Gra& Southerner) we went via the Lewis Pass and stopped of at Hanmer Springs (made a note to go back and try out the thermal pools at a later date!) The place kind off reminded me of the place on the TV show Northern Exposure! We spent yesterday trying to get our bearings but being Sunday most places were closed so took a stroll a long the beach and had a coffee at the "Boat Shed" Thanks for the recomendation (Southerner)will be popping back for a meal for sure soon! So off back into town to day to sort out bank accounts etc.

Will post again soon,

Tori

Tizus,

Welcome to Nu Zilund!! Glad you enjoyed the drive up - its hard not to really.

Those strolls along the beach are just the thing to get over the jetlag. We'll be doing the same, in the not too distant future.

Regards,

Southerner

Glad to hear that all went relatively smoothly.

It is boiling here this week, but I think most of us would much rather be where you are in the cold!!

Good to hear from you Tori.

Thanks for the thanks but I don't think it was me, I'll take the credit though if you like!

Looking forward to the updates,

cheers, Gra..

(you can borrow my 'jumping for joy' avatar if you like, perhaps when the jetlag wears off)

Default Two weeks later

So here we are two weeks later and thought iw ould post a few thoughts and feelings.

Home alone today as Ian started work this morning, its strange not having him around as we have had a rather long extended holiday sorting out new lives!! Nelson is a wonderful place every day we discover something new, we spent most of last week sorting out all the important stuff cars, bank accounts etc and everyone with out exception has been really helpfull even the Gp's receptionist!! We have been out exploring all over the place , Golden Bay, Farewell Spit, The Marlbrough sounds, fell in love with a little place called Havelock, Blenhiem, Picton and many many more places the scenery is of course out of this world! So all we have to do is find a house.....Nelson is a little expensive to say the least !! We still may end buying a section and building.

Will update you all again soon

Have fun ! We are!

Hi Tori!

Glad to hear you're enjoying NZ ( - me waving from the North Island!)

Nelson is on our list of "must see" places once we get round to having a holiday.... Sounds really lovely!

All the best,
Nicola.

HI Tori,

great to hear that all is going so well for you and that you like it all so much. Hope you get sorted with a house soon too. How much is average would you say for a 4 bed bungalow for a family with a bit of a garden? We have been keeping an eye on Christchurch prices and they definately seem to be on the up from when we started looking last year! Can I also ask if you have felt any homesickness yet or does it still feel more like a holiday! Just curious as I dread going and being terribly homesick!! Take care and please do keep in touch with the forum!

hi Shirley,
just to say, got email, but also got the dreaded msblaster virus and a few more it seemed. Afraid lost all emails, but remember the gist of yours. Will get Jayne to write re staffing numbers etc and her views on what she experienced first hand, but don't worry, it was on the positive side. Will PM later. LMS
ps Nelson - much prefered place by us two too!

Tori/Ian

Have a look at some of the sub-divisions around Mapua. That is where I would look to buy a section if I were you. There are some good restaurants/cafes there too.

Glad you're settling in well. Hopefully we will be there abouts in about 1 month.

Regards,

Blair
