Western Australia v Queensland
Hiya,
appreciate that this sort of thread has probably been done before, but please
bare with me.
What I'm after, as the title suggests is some general comparisons between
the two places.
I'm thinking lifestyle, weather, house prices any pro's and con's
I asked a similar question on the Canada forum some time ago, but did not
get much of a response
Cheers
Steve.

Hmmmm...surprised none of the hard core expats have replied yet. They're probably still asleep in Oz. Wait for them to get up in the morning. Alternatively do a search of this forum.
I would be interested in the comparisons too.....

Does the O.P know what a very large can of argumentative worms they have just opened. I have put my kettle on and fully expect this one to run to at least 100 posts.

Re: Western Australia v Queensland
I live in Perth with hubby and 2 kids been here 8 years.Perth is lovely for bringing up a family.House prices not as cheap as they were looking at $400000 now.Weather great in Summer but winter its freezing which I know is hard to believe.Life style is better than we had in the UK.But if you are wanting all the same things as back home pubs on every corner getting drunk every weekend you may as well stay at home. Its more meeting up with families at houses, beach having a bbq.
Only draw back with Perth after you have been here a few years and you have pretty much done everything it quiet boring. And expnsive to fly anywhere else within Aus.
If you live in the Gold coast lots more to do and cheaper to get between states.Good luck.

Queensland. Nicer weather, apparently cheaper housing, far less flies, closer to other major cities, I could go on but I think you get my drift

i think..... (puts on hard hat a bullet proof vest).... that you should only answer this one if you've lived in both areas for more than, say, a year! (in each place). that way you've pretty much covered all the seasons, holidays lifycycle etc etc
and would mean that you've got more to argue about of course!!!!

If you can handle the humidity then Brissy/QLSD would be the go.
Perth does feel like , as one poster said once, a large retirement home. Can't say it get's that cold in winter though. Whoever posted that ditty should try winter in Canberra or west coast of sth island of NZ

Everything is relative. If you lived in the North Pole for 20 years you would find the winters in any part of Aus mild. If you lived in certain areas of Africa or Brazil type places you would presumably find the winters here piggin cold. Everyone deals with temperatures differently too so no one can say (although I did earlier but I'm a woman and it's my perogative ) which state has the best weather.
Actually I agree with Yosemite. You can only really make a true comparison if you have lived in each place for at least a year.

Had actually asked for some comparisons between Canada and the UK, but they don't seem as helpful on that forum as you lot over here

Never been to Western Australia but I hear great things about it from aussies i've met on my Travels.
Having Visited Queensland - I have to say it's a wonderful part of Australia - Did Cairns up north which was excellent for seeing the Barrier reef but had more of a town feel as opposed to a City.
Being from A city I love Brisbane - Totally catered for outdoor living with the best beaches in the world-
Really Friendly People that live On the east coat with a Big River - sound familiar ?
