we're new to this so please help

Hello everyone,

my family and I are interested in migrating to Oz. We are a family of four.
My wife is a clinical leader (sister) in a hospital and I've had a garage for the last ten years. We are both confused in which order to do everything, do we get ours skills assessed first and if so how? any help would be amazingly appreciated. We are planning to live near melbourne and came back from there in the new year after having a month holiday over there seeing my sister in law.
Many many thanks.
Rickroar.
ps if i've put this in the wrong part of the forum then i'm sorry.

Welcome to the madhouse :D
I`d say the best thing to do is have a look at the DIMIA website and the skills i demand list and work out who has the best chance of getting the visa. I know you`d need a skills assessment before you apply for the visa but I`m not sure who it would be if your wife is a nurse (probably TRA for you if you are a mechanic though) Try doing a search on here you`ll find loads of info.

Hi Rickroar,

I would recommend getting a registered migration agent to give you an assessment. Search this forum for referrals as there has been a few (not that many thank goodness) bad experiences.

BTW if you didn't have any addictions before today you will have now!! :-)

good luck

We are pretty much at the beginning of the process and this site is a huge help!!
All seems very daunting at the beginning and you dont have a clue what anyones going on about but gradually it all seems to make sense  sort of!

Thanks for everyone replying so quick. I feel a bit more at ease now as I'm certain I can get the help I needs from all the people on this site.

Rickroar (was a name I came up with if I ever fancied being a filmstar)

A porn filmstar by the sound of it.
Welcome to the site though Rick, I'd say go with the nurse. Nurses can be fast tracked & you might get that visa a bit quicker.
Good idea to contact an agent though.
Also there is a nurses forum on here your Mrs might be interested in.
Good luck.

I'm more inland in a suburb called Ferntree Gully. My wife is a nurse at the local hospital & funnily enough a famous porn star was born at that hospital.
His name is Shane Warne.

Hi there,
Welcome to the site! :)
You'll definitely need to get your skills assessed first before applying for a visa. Look on the Dimia website for loads of info.
